The Bauhaus was an influential German modernist art school in the 20th century. They had a large impact in Europe and the US on approaches to teaching and art’s relationship to society and technology. The Bauhaus aimed to bridge the gap between art, design and industry to unify them.
Prominent artists within this movement included Wassily Kandinsky, Josef Albers, Laszlo Monoly-Nagy and Paul Klee.
My main inspiration in my painting project was Kandinsky and his insight on the correspondence between form and colour. Kandinsky believed in a universal aesthetic in which shapes and colour complemented one another. (yellow – triangle, blue – circle, red – square)
